How it Works:
The Weight Loss Calculator provides an estimate of lean
body mass in a person and in turn how much protein they should add into
their diet for optimum weight loss. It does this by using 3
scientifically established factors;
1) Body Mass Index (BMI)
2) Protein Factor (LPE)
3) Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR).
Once these 3 factors are generated we can calculate how much protein you
need to add to your daily diet for optimum weigh loss and health. |

Explanation of Terms
(BMI) Body Mass Index: Body Mass Index (BMI) is a way to look at your body weight relative to your height. It is a scientifically-based index that categorizes you as being underweight, normal, overweight or
extremely overweight, and also lets you know about your risk for developing obesity-associated diseases.

(LPE)
Protein Factor: The protein factor is an estimate of the optimum amount of protein that the diet should provide, based on the amount of lean body mass you have.
(RMR) Resting
Metabolic Rate: The number of calories you burn at rest during a 24-hour period.

Why Protein Matters
Eating plenty of protein, along with "good" carbohydrates, is
central to healthy weight loss. Getting enough protein for your
gender and body type can help you lose weight and keep it off.
As you can see from the graph to the left, protein helps control
hunger, making weight loss easier. It also helps build and
maintain muscle. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolic
rate and the faster you will burn off your unwanted pounds |
